Holy crap, I hate owls so much! I hate those things! The only good owl is one that has nothing to do with me!

Really amazing work. Just beautiful. But what does it mean?
Are you saying something about communism and propaganda? I'm a little bit fixated on the bright red star and the end.

Completely perfect use of the Blue Danube Waltz. And then ending was also perfect. Really just a fantastic job with the whole thing.

The Creation of High Art

"Yeah"

date: April 18, 2008

Hey, thumbs up! The animation was quite good and the voice acting was some of the best here on Newgrounds. I do wish i could blam just that short bit of pachelbel's canon during the credits. Freaking most overused song in the world, and actually quite ironic because its such a pop culture icon and therefore sort of "faux-high art." But i'll forgive you just this once. ;-)

In the genetics lab there are no floors or walls, just grey. also, all the enemies dies instantly and the guns cycle through every possible gun.

Jack owns

"Samurai Jack IS the shit"

submission: Jack owns
date: April 4, 2008

You got a good start to something here. There no sounds until like a minute in or something, and then just a couple. That's where you should start. Then work on making your style more consistant. Sometimes it looked like jack was copied and pasted into this, sometimes he looked hand drawn, and I supect one or two of those were done in paint. also, the animation was mostly really choppy and occasionaly fluid. choppy is not necisarily bad, just be consistant!
Anyway, Jack is badass.

"Pretty great"

submission: Stochastic
date: April 3, 2008

This was really quite good. The controls ARE tricky, but I was able to catch on pretty quick. Also, its totally possible to win, because I totally did. The only thing i think might be worth changing is tha transparency view. I like that you thought ahead enough to put it in, but it needs tweaking. I found the boxes to be TOO transparent and I couldn't really see the difference between levels. Anyway, really good game.

The Rise of a Knight

"dece, maybe dece-plus"

date: March 18, 2008

Most of the artwork in this game is just fantastic. I especially loved the forest. The way you changed from night to day and back was executed beautifully. The birds and squirrels and critters gave it a very cool feeling. The things you fought were also creative and interesting. The wolves, however, were pretty lame and sloppily drawn. Did someone else do them?
The spiders were creepy as hell, both in the forest and in the cave. The cave scenery was alright, but lame compared to the forest. Maybe that's just because you can't do much with the inside of a cave. Whatevs. The dungeon was just boring (graphically).
It seems like you put quite a bit of effort into the forest, and it shows, and you put less effort into the cave, and way less into the dungeon, and that shows too.
Good music choices.
Other people have complained about combat, specifically collision detection and repetitiveness. They're right.
You so subtly set yourself up for a sequel! Did you get bored? Did you just get sick of the project? Seriously, the ending is lame.
Last and least, a pause button would have been nice, as would a way to move through the dialogue more quickly without skipping it all.
There are a thousand games like this, so you really need to set yourself apart somehow. You DO with your artwork and with the atmosphere and mood of the game, but not consistently.

Author's Response:

Cool, thanks for the in-depth review. You deliver some real insightful comments. First of all, this game was created with a sequel in mind, and if I made any more to the game the file size would have become enormous. There's so much you have to take into consideration when making a game so sorry if you though the ending was lame. Im glad you liked my art style and yeah, Im still learning a lot in both the art department and the programming one.
Thanks again :)

Hero RPG

"Cool but buggy"

submission: Hero RPG
date: November 15, 2007

cool game. very nice rpg, but some bugs still. I got stuck in the shop and couldn't move at all. i could open and close windows and save my game, i just couldn't move. also, i accidently re-accepted the apprentice quest and it reset my kill count to zero. otherwise, pretty slick. object edges could be better, i guess. am i just rambling? the point is, I liked your game, but maybe it isn't quite finished.

"Really great"

submission: Waterlollies

Your work is consistently very good, and this is a piece you should be proud of. The music here is great, and the whole thing is beautiful, but I really love how you are able to have so much characterization without any dialogue. The background information during the preloader is a nice touch; it gives those of us with slower computers something to do while we wait (it is a pretty big file). Nicely done, man.
